Chungcheongbuk-do is the only inland province with no coastline. A land of small towns, mountains, hot springs and forests, Chungchongbuk-do is Korea's most rural province. There are no large cities here, but plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation.

The newly opened international airport in Cheongju, the provincial capital of Chungcheongbuk-do has grown rapidly into not only a strategic heartland of the domestic economy but also an international gateway for the mid-region of Korea.
