Songnisan National Park
Mt.
Sogni is a famous for its mountain range joined by nine mountain
peaks. It is called Kubongsan because of these nine Mountain
peaks. You will find wild cherry blossoms in spring, green
pines in summer, maple trees in autumn and majestic snow-covered
scenery in winter. There is a 600 years old pine trees along
the road in front of the Popchusa.
During King Sejong's reign, these pine trees were bestowed
government posts called Chongipum. It is a popular tourist
site with its graceful forms. Like most hiking tracks, there
are many track routes at the Sogrisan National Park which
includes the main course from Popchusa to Shiodong, Myobong,
Ch'onhwangbong, a valley course of Osonggol and a maple course
of Chungsacha-am.
Woraksan
Woraksan
contains 16 great peaks, such as Chuhulsan and Munsubong.
The artificial lake made by Ch'ungchu dam is famous as a lakeside
sightseeing area and is becoming the main sightseeing spot
in the middle of South Korea.
Chungju Lake
Chungjuho Lake offers a variety of delightful water sports
in the mountainous area of central Korea. Cruise boats ply
between Chungju and Danyang allowing passengers to enjoy stunning
views of Danyang-Palgyeong, the "Eight Scenic Wonders." Gosudonggul
cave captivates visitors with its glistening stalactites in
all shapes and sizes. Chungju fields are one of the main sources
supplying excellent quality apples in Korea. Also yellow tobacco
is a specialty of this region, while its ginseng has gained
a worldwide reputation.
