Kodori Sokpul
Maitreya buddha is expressed in a stone Buddha, who understands all the precepts of the Buddhism world to enlighten and lead people.

Originally Buddha referred to only Sakyamuni but as the Mahayanist Buddhism developed over time, it included all the Buddhas living in 'Jongtosabang', the paradise of the Buddhism world. Maitreya who is a discipline of Sakyamuni is said to live above in the fourth heaven, and will come down to the world 5.67 billion years after his leaving this world and save the world with three preachings.

In the late Koryo period, Buddhism became the widely accepted religion of the society. The Maitreya faith was mingled and absorbed into the folklore beliefs and fell to a quasi-religion where people used it as a means to get worldly blessings such as male offspring, cures for disease, etc. The Kodori stone Buddhas were set up in this context.
