Park
Pukansan National Park
Puk'an
mountain is known for its enormous size and high peaks. Puk'ansan
is also called Samgak mountain because it has three triangular
peaks: Paegundae, Insubong and Kungmangbong. The mountain
is steep, rugged and difficult to climb, but once you reach
the top of the main peak, Paegundae, the view is breathtaking.
Other mountains such as Tobongsan, Puaksan, Namsan, Namhansan
and Kwanaksan are also visible. To the west, you can see the
islands such as Kanghwado and Youngjongdo.
Olympic Park
Striving
to preserve the historic Mongchon Fortress in its beautiful
and natural surrounding as well as constructing a world class
Olympic arena with versatile functions, Olympic Park was built
in 1989. The park was home to the 10th Asian Games and the
24th Seoul Olympic Games.
Olympic Park features over 200 modern and contemporary sculptures
by 155 world famous sculptors, as well as Olympic commemorative
monuments. It is considered one of the best sculptural parks
in the world.
Han Riverside Park
With the aim of reviving the Han River, the Han River Comprehensive
Development Project began in 1982 and was completed in 1986.
A 41.5km area of Seoul has been changed into a life-supporting
river, On average 2.5m deep and 175m wide. The riverside facilities
include rest areas, water-skiing, yachting and boating facilities,
fishing areas, parking lots, and sports facilities, including
soccer fields, volleyball courts, basketball courts, and swimming
pools.
